Adult Children & Authentic Connection

#TeachWriteober19
Day 4

Chris, Hunter, Serena, and I enjoyed a cool fall evening strolling through the art-filled brick streets of downtown Lubbock. Live music, food trucks, and twinkle lights created the kind of atmosphere in which authentic connection thrives. My bonus-son turns twenty-five next week, and ever since he was thirteen years old, his Dad and I have cautioned him not to make any major life decisions until his brain is fully developed. Tonight as we conversed about his future, a deep sense of joy washed over me as I considered what a remarkable young man he's become. His prefrontal cortex has reached maturation, and the genuine, close relationship he shares with his father ceases to amaze me. I love this boy with my whole heart, and I am deeply grateful for the quality time we spend together. Adult children are a blessing.
